System Upgrades

Server Refresh Update

At this time we are happy to announce that all PES backend systems (nameservers, our own website, backend management systems, etc) have been been replaced with the new systems, and everything is running as intended. Over the upcoming two weeks we will begin to build and migrate clients to the new Client Servers. Clients will be notified in batches of the exact upgrade schedule and process for their servers.

New Nameservers Online

As of this evening we have switched over ns3 & ns4.purenrg.com to their new homes. This step of our upgrade should require no client action, and no downtime to any client sites. For future reference all mention of ns3/ns4 on our site have been updated to reflect their new IPs:

ns3.purenrg.com - Now 107.170.45.202 (was 208.43.104.254)
ns4.purenrg.com - Now 173.230.134.250 (was 75.126.229.231)

Server Upgrades, Incoming..

It's that time again, server hardware refresh time!

Over the next few weeks we'll be rolling out a series of replacement servers both for our backend systems (our own website, management servers, nameservers, etc) as well as replacements for our cPanel customer-hosting servers.

Details and announcements will be emailed to all affected users in advance of any outage windows, though our goal is to minimize any impact to customer websites and services as much as possible.

System Upgrades

Tonight all client servers for our Shared Linux Web Hosting users have had updates to a number of various software packages to bring them all to the same level. All client servers are now running:

Apache 2.2.16
PHPi 5.3.3
Ruby On Rails 2.3.8

No major client-side changes or updates are expected to be required due this minor upgrade.

Apache 2.2.15 and PHP 5.3.2 Upgrade...

This afternoon all client servers for our Shared Linux Web Hosting users are being upgraded to Apache 2.2.15 and PHPi 5.3.2... Each server will be down very briefly for a few seconds while Apache reloads. No major client-side changes or updates are expected to be required due this minor upgrade.

All Servers Upgraded...

This evening all client servers for our Shared Linux Hosting users were upgraded to Apache 2.2.14 and PHPi 5.2.11.. these were fairly minor upgrades (from previous 2.2.x and 5.2.x) so no configuration or major modifications were required. Downtime for each server was measured in seconds while the Apache services were restarted.

Upgrade to Apache 2.2 Complete

Apache/2.2.10 (Unix) Server at srv3.purenrg.com Port 80

Such sweeter words have never been spoken by our servers. Okay, so maybe I'm being just a little overly dramatic, but the simple fact is, the jump from Apache 1.3.x to 2.2.x has been something we've been putting off for various reasons for so long that it was beginning to feel like it would never happen. This morning that situation was resolved, and we are happy to report that everything has appeared to go smoothly.

Apache 2.2: Today

The previously discussed upgrades to Apache 2.2 will be occuring this morning. Downtime for each server should be 15-20 minutes at most. We will post a follow up to the news section once the update is complete.
